How To Book The Best Deals For Last Minute Trips

Posted on: August 14th, 2017 by Brian McLaughlin No Comments

“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you.” – Anthony Bourdain

How To Book The Best Deals For Last Minute Trips | Pacific Grove Hotel | Pacific Grove | Butterfly Grove Inn

Travel isn’t always pretty, especially when it comes to last-minute trips. Here are a few ways to make it easier!

1. Accommodations over airfare.
If you want to grab the best savings, focus on accommodations and packaged deals — not airfare. But still stay on the lookout, you may score some out-of-this-world savings — some say that flight tickets are the most inexpensive 54 days before your scheduled flight date!

2. Travel mid-week.
With work and other life obligations, weekend getaways are the typical go-to. But traveling on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday can save you hundreds per ticket!

3. Go with the flow.
Last-minute travel means serendipity, so if you’re the type of person who loves plans and itineraries, this may not be your best option. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get the best seat on your flight, or even the best hotel on TripAdvisor, but if you’re willing to just roll with the punches you may be surprised at how your trip will turn out.

4. This is the time for fun trips.
If you’re planning a honeymoon, babymoon, or any other vacation ending in -moon, book ahead of time. You don’t want to stress or skimp out when it comes to special trips!

If your journey takes you to Monterey and Pacific Grove, California, we’ve got a cozy retreat for you to stay. How To Pair Wine With Your Wedding

Posted on: August 9th, 2017 by Brian McLaughlin No Comments

One of the best parts of planning a wedding? The wine tastings! But should you choose Chardonnay or Merlot? Can you have both? Here are four tips to help you choose what you want to sip on at your wedding.

How To Pair Wine With Your Wedding | Pacific Grove Hotel | Pacific Grove | Butterfly Grove Inn

1. Choose at least one white and one red.

In addition to champagne, of course. Steer clear of oaky Chardonnays and fruity Merlots. Include a crisp white like a Sauvignon Blanc and a Pinot Noir as a food-friendly red option — it will pair well with chicken, steak, or even raviolis.

2. Get what you like, but consider alternatives.

Do you prefer buttery or oaky Chardonnays? Well at the end of the day, it is your wedd, so you should drink what you want! However consider other people’s palettes as well. You can still buy an oaky Chardonnay for the big day, but there are a few brands out there that are way less dominating than others.

3. Personalize it.

The little touches are sometimes the main features people remember about your wedding. Buy personal-sized wine bottles and create custom labels as a gift. Or during your first dance, serve a bottle that has a special meaning behind it for you and your partner. Point being, it’s not all about the flowers and food!

4. How much should you buy?

You should plan on one drink per guest per hour, plus some — it’s better to have too much wine than not enough! Besides, not enough alcohol is the last thing you want to be worrying about on this special occasion!
