Butterfly Grove Inn Spring 2018 Reviews

“Cozy place, huge rooms, clean and attractive. Just steps from the butterfly sanctuary. A 15-minute walk (3-minute drive) to the shops and restaurants of Pacific Grove’s main street, or to Lover’s Point and the gorgeous seashore there. A really great deal in the winter months, when there is less fog and fewer people. Staff is very helpful.” – Google review.

“We really loved staying here. The room was wonderful, vaulted ceiling, clean white linens, and a fireplace. The staff was very nice and helpful. The Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary was practically on the property. Would stay again.” – Google review.

“I stayed with my parents from Jan 29 to Feb 2 in room 27. We love this place! It was our first stay and the rooms were huge and clean. The king-sized bed was amazing each night. The amenities are great and we are more than impressed. Plus if you stay in the winter like we did you can go next door to the Monarch butterfly reserve. Great trip and we will definitely be staying again!! Thank you!” – Google review.

“Location was great, very homey feel, down to earth, staff was great! About 6 blocks up from beach was a great hike/walk around the neighborhood to get there loved it…really great value for the money…pool and hot tub, grass area very lovely!” – review

Best Beaches in Monterey County

Posted on: May 24th, 2018 by Brian McLaughlin No Comments

The coastal strip in Monterey is one of the most breathtaking coastlines you’ll ever see. The native flowers and trees, the sand, the water, the atmosphere — everything about the beaches here are different and simply amazing!

Here are our favorite beach spots…

Del Monte Beach

If you like to follow a locals recommendations while traveling, then Del Monte Beach should be the first beach you go to. This hidden gem is tucked away from all the main roads, so it’s a great little getaway.

The city of Monterey manages Del Monte Beach even though it’s on state land — it’s between Window on the Bay Beach and Houghton M. Roberts Beach.

McAbee Beach

This beach was named for John McAbee — he bought the land in the 1900s with hopes of making it a seasonal getaway for tourists — and look at Cannery Row now!

McAbee Beach is located right in the heart of Cannery Row in Monterey. The best time to go? During low tide. During high tide, there will hardly be any sand or “beach” at all.

San Carlos Beach

You can find San Carlos beach at the west end of Cannery Row, next to the Coast Guard Pier. San Carlos beach is also sometimes referred to as Reeside Beach Access (because of its location at the end of Reeside Avenue). This is not a regular beach — what we mean by that is, mainly people go here for scuba diving, not sunbathing.

Right behind the beach is the Monterey Peninsula Recreation Trail, so overall it’s still a great place to visit on a sunny day!

Pfeiffer Beach

This beach is hard to find, but the views are totally worth it (it’s not the most photographed spot in Big Sur for no reason!). Swimming isn’t advised since the tide is so strong, but you can still relax and take in the most beautiful Big Sur sunsets you can find.
