5 Amazing Traveling Jobs And How To Get Them

Posted on: June 17th, 2017 by Brian McLaughlin No Comments

Find a job you love and you won’t work a day in your life. Well, for people with the wanderlust gene, any job that requires a little travel and tourism is a dream come true. Here’s a list of careers that require a bit more time on the road than normal.

5 Amazing Traveling Jobs And How To Get Them | Pacific Grove Hotels | Pacific Grove | Butterfly Grove Inn |

Travel agent — Travel agents work as a middleman between travelers and hotels/airlines. In order to be able to sell packages properly, this means visiting plenty of new places.

Cruise ship gigs — A boating license isn’t always required to have a job out in sea. If you work on a cruise ship, you can be a sound technician, electrician, chef, hotel manager, musician, and plenty more. But if you’re prone to seasickness, this may not be the best option!

Geologist — You may need a bit more time to land this job, considering you need a background in physics, chemistry, and math. Geologists usually end up in the oil or gas industries, where they find themselves hopping from one country to the next trying to find fossil-fuel energy.

Flight attendant — When you start out, you’ll have fewer options as far as your schedule, number of flight hours, and destinations you visit. But, the good news? There are very few requirements for this job, some airlines don’t even require a degree!

If your journey takes you to Monterey and Pacific Grove, California, we’ve got a cozy retreat for you to stay. Tips For Traveling With Your Kids

Posted on: June 15th, 2017 by Brian McLaughlin No Comments

Getting ready to travel with kids in tow? Looking to avoid their temper tantrums? With a little planning, snacking, and resting, traveling with your little ones will be a breeze.

Tips For Travelling With Your Kids | Pacific Grove Hotels | Pacific Grove | Butterfly Grove Inn |

Airplane Tips

  • Allow you and your family extra time at the airport (getting through security can be a tough task even on your own!).
  • Make sure your kids are wearing shoes and clothes that are easy to come on and off. (Keep in mind: Children younger than 12 years old are not required to remove their shoes for screenings).
  • Check the airlines website ahead of time regarding their luggage policy. Typically, you will be allowed to bring a car seat no board as extra luggage, with no extra expense.
  • Remember to bring hand-washing gel and disinfectant wipes to help prevent your little ones from getting sick during your travels.

International Tips

  • In order to prevent jet lag, adjust your child’s sleep schedule 2-3 days before departure. After arrival, encourage your children to be active during the day to further promote adjustment.
  • Carefully inspect the area that you will be staying at. Some conditions in various countries, and even hotels, are not safe for kids.
  • Check with your doctor to make sure that your child is up-to-date on all vaccinations.

Car Tips

  • When renting a car during your travels, check to see if the car seat provided is appropriate for the size and age of your child.
  • Children often become restless in long car rides. To keep them occupied, play games and point out interesting sights along the way.
  • You can get restless too! Plan to stop your drive every two hours to give you and your little ones a break.

Looking to explore The Golden State? The city of Monterey is one of the quaintest and most beautiful of them all – a spot for relaxation, sightseeing, and social activity.
