Your furry friends are your greatest companions, so it only makes sense that you want to travel the world with them. Whether you hope to go backpacking across Europe or lounge on the beaches in California, you need to prepare your pup for your next adventure!
Breed matters. Some dogs travel better than others. For instance, many airlines won’t allow short-nosed breeds on board since they have such difficulties breathing. Make sure you check with the airline before you buy your ticket.
Check your travel destination. The site Pet Travel lists the entry requirements needed for each country. For example, Europe requires all pets to be microchipped before arrival. Some of the necessary steps aren’t as complicated or costly, but you will still need ample time to prepare.
Visit the vet before you go. You may be required to have a form filled out by your vet that includes your pet’s medical history. Additionally, many places require up-to-date rabies vaccines at least 30 days before departure.
Label all belongings. This helps differentiate between your suitcases and your puppy’s carrier. Make sure to write warnings and contact information in case you and your four-legged friend get separated.
